Finally! You don’t know what a struggle it is to find this kind of material. Thank you, Om.

Hey—Christina of PublicSquare here. I think that is an awesome idea, but a non-trivial technical challenge. ;-)

For now, though, why not upload on vimeo or revver or some such, and link the URL. I think the more faces and voices we bring in, the better!

Tracking is a hassle. We set up a google spreadsheet, which helps a lot because it’s sharable. I can’t help but think someone out there has a killer spreadsheet…

Hey Frank—Please bear with us.

Registration does more than let you leave a comment. It lets you own your words, and build a reputation around them. Your photo, your bio, a list of every story you wrote and every comment you make will exist here. And more than that—if you hop over to Boxes and Arrows, or other sites that use (or will use) PublicSquare your reputation and your identity can follow.

We’re fixing some bugs, but comment management—tools that will let you flag and rate comments—will be up shortly. And you are deadly right about the problem with universal log in: it needs to be MUCH more clear where you came form and where you are going. It’s next on our bug list!

I think between the whole Kathy Sierra mess and the endless struggle with spammers and trolls what being anonymous on the web means to us.

Om is trying to build a *real* community here at Found | Read. one price to being a participant is to OWN your words, OWN your actions and sign up to be YOU.

In order to keep this thread on topic, I’d like folks who want to talk about this to comment here

And let me echo Om—thanks for keeping it real. We’re all founders here, and we’re all looking to learn from each other.

I’d love to see this article written; my friends and I discuss pitches often. For example, what’s more effective, pulling up powerpoint, or just chatting knowledgeably. If you can demo, should you power through to that? What if you can’t size your market exactly—what are go ways to discuss the overall shape of it? How can you ask for help without appearing weak in a given area? Is a pitch for an angel different from a VC pitch?

And what do you need in your appendix slides to prepare for surprises?

I think one of the hardest problems for founders is its not clear when to quit. You can limp along for months, maybe years and if you don’t have a VC itching to close you down, you can watch your hope for an early retirement pushed out again and again, and debt slowly creep up becuase you are always on the brink of making it. I have a friend who set an arbitrary date to make it or close down. He closed down and today he still doubts if he did the right thing (especially that now, two years later, his idea is being used by Yahoo, Intel, Hp… too early is worse than too late.)

But of course, that’s not me. We’re gonna be huge.

Thank you for this—at least I know I am not alone. I have had days when I thought I’d have to shut down the company and two hours later got news that gave me hope. Anyhow, you gave new meaning to the phrase “shut up and dance”!

If you hire well, and hire someone you trust with your code, you should also be able to trust them with a key to the office. YOu may find yoru productivity goes up going into teh office every day also.

If not, you could also consider contractors, and working remotely.

But have you overseen anyone before? Your note suggests lack of trust in your potential employees. It’s best to hire slowly, hire well, then really truly trust them. Otherwise any time you gain in work will be lost in not sleeping at night.
